Super Balls

Super Balls

These balls filled with Super Powers!  Literally.

I made these balls one afternoon to satisfy a little chocolate craving and to fuel my tank. I threw a bunch of raw super foods from Truly Organic Foods that I have in my pantry together with some coconut oil and produced little bits of super-charged goodness. They satisfied my hankering and need for a quick pick me up.

As always, I love to share food and experiences. You think I’d know by now what follows when people like what they taste… the requests for the recipe.  That’s always where I cringe. I’m an experimenter at heart.  I never measure anything because I’m generally inspired by the ingredients that are in my house, which usually means in season and local, rather than following a traditional recipe.  Sometimes my experiments are pleasant surprises, sometimes they leave me scrambling to remember what I put in it to try to replicate it, sometimes they turn into colossal flops.

Here is my best recollection of the measurements.

Super Balls

  • 2/3 c  coconut oil, softenedChocolate
  • 1/4 c  maple syrup
  • 1/4 c  ground flax seeds
  • 1/2 c  raw cacao
  • 1/8 c  camu camu
  • 1/8 c  maca
  • 1/8 c  lumuma
  • 1/4 c  hemp protein powder
  • 1/4 c  spirulina

What you do:

  • Combine coconut oil & maple syrup together in a mixing bowl
  • Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients & incorporate well to make a thick batter
  • Use clean hands to roll “batter” into small little balls. You don’t want them too big, they are Super Balls for a reason. You only little need a little of their magic power. Rub a dab of coconut oil on your palms to keep the batter from sticking to your hands, if necessary.
  • Voila!  You now have Super Powers when you need them.

Feel free to add ground flax seeds if you need more dry ingredients or more coconut oil if you need more moisture.  You can also use medjool dates in place of the maple syrup if you prefer. Just be sure to soak the dates in water for 30 minutes before so they are more manageable (gooey) and process all the ingredients in a food processor.

Super Foods

Are nutritionally dense foods that contain a diverse variety of nutrients and have multitude of health benefits. These plant foods are nutritional power houses and are devoid of chemicals, pesticides and hormones. You’ll likely find most loaded with clean protein, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, enzymes, antioxidants, essential fats and amino acids to make them a true Super Food.

If you don’t have all of the Super Foods listed here in your pantry, I’d suggest you head over to Truly Organic Foods on their on-line store (they ship anywhere) and stock up.  If that’s not possible right now, head to your local health food store or adjust the measurements and/or ingredients to what you have in your pantry instead.

I hope you enjoy my replica of kryptonite,
